Sensory Profile Clinical Assessment
Understanding How You Experience the World.
Sensory Profile Assessments for Children, Adolescents & Adults
The Sensory Profile Clinical Assessment helps individuals from infancy through adulthood gain clarity on how their sensory system shapes daily life — and how to work with it, not against it.
What is the assessment?
A clinical tool designed for every stage of life.
The Sensory Profile Clinical Assessment is a standardized, evidence-based evaluation that examines how your sensory system processes and responds to everyday experiences — sound, touch, movement, taste, and more.
Whether you're a parent seeking answers for your child, or an adult navigating sensory sensitivities on your own, this assessment provides a detailed, compassionate picture of your unique sensory profile.
Results are shared in a warm, collaborative session where we explore what your profile means for your daily life, relationships, and wellbeing.
Practical, on-demand sensory and wellbeing resources are available nationwide through the Resource Library for $5 per month.

Sensory Processing Across the Lifespan
Openness With Therapy provides Sensory Profile assessments to help individuals, parents, caregivers, and professionals better understand sensory processing patterns — and how sensory experiences may influence regulation, communication, learning, work, relationships, and everyday functioning.
Ages 3 – 17
Children & Adolescents
Sensory differences can shape how a child learns, connects with others, and moves through the world. A Sensory Profile assessment offers parents, caregivers, and educators a clear, evidence-based picture of a child's sensory processing — and practical guidance to support them at home, at school, and beyond.

Adults
Many adults have navigated sensory sensitivities for years without a clear framework to understand them. Whether you're exploring neurodiversity, managing sensory overwhelm at work or in relationships, or simply seeking deeper self-understanding, the Sensory Profile assessment offers meaningful, lasting clarity.

Infants & Toddlers
Early identification of sensory patterns can make a profound difference. For infants and toddlers, the assessment helps caregivers understand how their child experiences feeding, sleep, touch, and movement — and how to respond in ways that support healthy development from the very beginning.

What If Behavior Is Communicating a Sensory Need?
Behavior is often a message. Sensory sensitivity, sensory seeking, sensory avoiding, and difficulty processing sensory information can all influence how a person experiences and responds to everyday situations. What looks like defiance, withdrawal, meltdowns, or difficulty focusing may, in fact, be a nervous system doing its best to cope with a sensory world that feels overwhelming — or not stimulating enough.
A Sensory Profile assessment doesn't just name these patterns — it helps you understand them, work with them, and build a life that honors how your nervous system is wired.
Sensory sensitivity
Heightened responses to sounds, textures, lights, or movement that others may not notice.
Sensory seeking
A strong drive for movement, touch, or intense sensory input to feel regulated and grounded.
Sensory avoiding
Active withdrawal from sensory experiences that feel uncomfortable, painful, or overwhelming.
Low registration
Difficulty noticing or responding to sensory input, which can affect attention, energy, and engagement.
