About the assessment
What Is a Sensory Profile Assessment?
A Sensory Profile assessment is a standardized, evidence-based evaluation that provides detailed information about how an individual responds to sensory experiences in everyday environments — at home, at school, at work, and in social settings.
The assessment uses validated questionnaires completed by the individual, a caregiver, or both, depending on the person's age. Results are scored and interpreted by a trained clinician and shared in a collaborative results session.
The Sensory Profile does not diagnose autism, ADHD, or any mental health condition. It is a functional assessment tool that describes sensory processing patterns — providing a framework for understanding behavior, regulation, and daily functioning in a new and meaningful way.

What Can a Sensory Profile Help You Understand?
Sensory processing patterns can influence behavior, regulation, and daily life in ways that are not always obvious. A Sensory Profile assessment can help answer questions such as:
Why does this environment feel overwhelming?
Why does my child react strongly to certain sounds or textures?
Why do I need quiet or alone time after being around people?
Why does my child seek movement or sensory stimulation?
Why is it difficult to focus in certain settings?
What sensory experiences appear to support comfort and regulation?
How can I better support my child's sensory needs at home or school?
Why do certain fabrics, foods, or sounds feel intolerable?
How it works
The Assessment Process
Initial Consultation
We begin with a clinical interview to understand your history, concerns, and goals. This conversation helps ensure the assessment is tailored to your specific situation and age group.
Sensory Profile Questionnaire
You or your child's caregiver completes a standardized Sensory Profile questionnaire. For some age groups, a teacher or professional observer may also complete a version of the form.
Clinical Scoring and Interpretation
The completed questionnaire is scored and interpreted using established clinical norms. Patterns are analyzed across sensory systems and behavioral responses to identify areas of sensitivity, seeking, avoiding, or low registration.
Results Session
We meet to review your profile together. Results are explained in plain, accessible language — connected to your lived experience and everyday situations. There is time to ask questions and explore what the findings mean for you or your child.
Written Summary
You receive a written summary of your Sensory Profile results, including key findings and practical considerations. This document can be shared with educators, therapists, or other professionals as appropriate.
Who it's for
Who Can Benefit?
Sensory Profile assessments are appropriate across the lifespan and can be valuable for a wide range of individuals and professionals.
Birth – 2 years
Infants and Toddlers
Early identification of sensory patterns can support feeding, sleep, regulation, and developmental milestones. Caregivers gain practical strategies to respond to their infant's sensory needs from the very beginning.
Ages 3 – 12
Children
Understanding a child's sensory profile can transform how families, educators, and therapists support them at home and at school — reducing frustration and building on sensory strengths.
Ages 13 – 17
Adolescents
Adolescence brings new sensory challenges. Clarity about sensory processing can ease anxiety, support self-advocacy, and help teens better understand their own responses to social and academic environments.
Ages 18 and older
Adults
Many adults have navigated sensory sensitivities for years without a clear framework. The assessment offers meaningful self-understanding and practical strategies for work, relationships, and daily life.
Supporting a child of any age
Parents and Caregivers
Parents and caregivers who want to better understand their child's sensory world — and learn how to respond in ways that support regulation, connection, and wellbeing.
