For clinicians & referral partners
You're Treating the Client. We Can Help You Understand the Sensory Piece.
Sensory processing can influence how a person responds to environments, communicates, regulates, participates in treatment, and manages everyday activities. A Sensory Profile assessment adds a layer of clinical information that can support the work you are already doing.
How Sensory Processing Intersects With Clinical Care
Sensory processing affects how the nervous system takes in, organizes, and responds to information from the environment and the body. When sensory processing is atypical, it can shape a client's behavior, emotional regulation, communication, and ability to engage in daily life — including their ability to participate in and benefit from treatment.
A Sensory Profile assessment does not replace a comprehensive clinical evaluation. It provides additional, standardized information about sensory processing patterns that can complement existing diagnoses, inform treatment planning, and help clinicians and caregivers respond more effectively.
When Might a Sensory Profile Be Helpful?
Consider a referral when a client presents with any of the following:
A Complement to Existing Care
A Sensory Profile assessment is not a diagnostic tool and does not replace a comprehensive clinical evaluation. It does not diagnose autism, ADHD, anxiety, or any other mental health or neurodevelopmental condition.
What it provides is standardized, evidence-based information about how a client processes sensory input across eight sensory systems. This information can help clinicians better understand behavioral patterns, inform environmental modifications, and support more targeted treatment planning.
Results are shared in a written report and a clinical review meeting, and can be made available to the referring provider with appropriate consent.
Who Do We Serve?
We provide Sensory Profile assessments across the lifespan.
Infants & Toddlers
Early identification of sensory patterns can support caregivers and early intervention teams in understanding feeding, sleep, touch, and movement responses.
Children
Understanding a child's sensory profile can inform school accommodations, behavioral support plans, and family strategies.
Adolescents
Sensory processing patterns in adolescence can affect social participation, academic performance, and emotional regulation.
Adults
Many adults have navigated sensory differences for years without a framework. A Sensory Profile can provide clarity that supports therapy, workplace accommodations, and daily functioning.
The Referral Process
A straightforward process designed to minimize burden on referring providers.
Referral
Submit a referral or have your client contact us directly through the appointments page. No formal referral form is required.
Assessment
The client completes the Sensory Profile Clinical Assessment across 3–4 telehealth sessions. Caregivers are included as appropriate.
Clinical Review
Results are scored and interpreted by our clinician. A written report is prepared summarizing sensory processing patterns and clinical implications.
Results
The client receives a results review meeting. With appropriate consent, findings can be shared with the referring provider to support coordinated care.
